As an Unit Of Oculoplasty Department, Ocular Prosthetic lab have completed its 11 Years on this December 2022. Now we are going forward with vision to give quality service in ocular prosthesis.
In our 11 years journey we found very good team work. Our sincere gratitude for all your support. Administrative team, Doctors, Oculoplasty surgeons, fellows, procurement team, maintaining team, Colleague and last not the least dear prosthesis users, we did our beautiful time with great team work together.
In this period, we have visited nearly 8000 patient at ocular prosthetic lab among them about 1500 people benefited with custom made prosthesis and rest of patient have provided different kind of ocular prosthesis services. Not only in Nepal, our prosthesis users also from overseas like India Tibet and bhutan. Most probably its first time in Nepal we are in that practice, where socket evaluation under General Anaesthesia for those patients who are unable to take impression in normal sitting. Now we are providing free of cost custom made prosthesis for Retinoblastoma survivors, in the support of OEG (Open Eye Group) Kathmandu. This service started from 2019 and about 25 RB survivors benefited by this programme.
When Artificial Eye ready to fit we only not giving foreign object in the eye socket, with artificial Eye we are trying to back patients self-reliance and social respect again when they loose with their eye lost. We have very good experience with many people.
Hiran Dhami a young boy came to our ocular prosthetic lab with left eye phthisis bulbi. He lost his vision since childhood now he turn in age of 21 and wanted cosmetic correction. After consultation with oculoplasty surgeon we did custom fit for him and now he is comfortable and organizing his daily schedule without any hesitation and seems more confident and comfortable than before. Only not him after fit Artificial Eye there are many people who really getting change in life, those people such motivation to do new things in ocular prosthesis.
Even though 11 years completed but we are not so far in our journey. We need to update with new technology, new things and some improvement to achieve our goal. If we all together it is possible to reach that milestone.
